Happy Birthday, Kc!

Date of occurrence:
February 8, 2018.

Kc's eleventh Birthday is off to a great start.

He has a school-fieldtrip to the University today, followed by a basketball game by our local team.

The photographer is at school to take Spring pictures and Kc will have the surprise of his life when he gets home.

He doesn't know it yet, but aunt A. has bought him an Xbox for his special day and we got him a new TV to go with it.

Opa and I set it up while Kc is at school. It takes some time, but we get it done. Along with the gaming console came code cards for a free game. I lay them out on his bed to greet him as soon as he walks into his room.

We pick him up from school and he is in a happy mood. So far, his day couldn't be going any better. Well..., we will see about that. He thinks his upcoming party at the skating rink is his Birthday present. Grin.

He has no homework and decides to play on his tablet. He goes into his room and, armed with our camera, we slowly follow him. It is very quit for a few seconds.

Then we hear him say: "No way".

There is a little pause and again, a little louder this time, he says: "No way!"

We come in and see him looking at his new Xbox and TV.

His face shows complete astonishment as he keeps staring at it.

We tell him who the presents are from, but hardly get a reaction. He is totally speechless and can't keep his eyes of his gifts.

It doesn't take long before he regains his composure.

He tells us he saw the cards and didn't understand why he got them, since he didn't have and Xbox. Then he looked up and noticed he was the proud owner of one.

He is excited and we download the game.

He is playing in no time and can't get enough of it.

Time to go to bed comes way too early.

As I tuck him in, he confirms we achieved our goal.

Kc: "Man, I had a great Birthday!"

That's exactly what we were shooting for.

Happy Birthday, little man! :-)
