Grandparents Visitation Rights

I don't know if there are many grand parents reading this blog, although I suspect several among you may already be enjoying the blessings of having grand children. I strongly advice you to enjoy them while it lasts: it can change in an instant as we found out.

Whenever the parents, or one of the parents, decide to deny the grand parents seeing the children, you will find yourself completely at their mercy. It turns out that there are very few laws on grand parents rights and the ones that exist are rather obscure, incomplete and vary from state to state.

The likelihood to obtain visitation rights usually results in a waste of time and money, not to mention the emotional hardship you go through. Most cases for these rights were lost by the grand parents.

Even if you would be one of the few who would win the battle, it may be short lived. Should the parent(s) and your grand children move to another state, the court order issued in the previous state is no longer valid. You will have to start all over again.

In case you persist on pursuing visitation rights, make sure to involve a lawyer who is specialized and experienced in this specific legal area.

Should you be or have been in a situation like this then I would appreciate you sharing your experiences and findings on it.

Thanks! :-)
