Snap

Londyn has been asking for a turtle for over a year now. Today, they found a baby turtle by the wayside and took it home. Londyn is over the moon.

Mom wants to know what kind of turtle it is and calls us. We take a good look at it and our suspicion is that it is a baby snapping turtle. The beak and weird ridges on its back give it away.

Mom decides to look it up on the internet to make absolutely sure. If it is a snapper, it has to go, no matter how little it is. It fits in the palm of her hand.

After a while I ask her if she found out. Yes, snapper for sure. It has to go. Londyn is devastated.

Londyn’s mom:”And now nana wants to buy Londyn a turtle, cuz it BROKE her Like her dog of 12 years just died. Wanted pics to remember it and to just hold the container it was in for a while to spend time with it. And we are having a ceremonial turtle release at the creek later.”

Poor Londyn. Her little hart snapped in two. That didn’t take long though. She was happy to be able to rescue the little turtle and set it free.
