Never Say Never
Date of occurrence:
May 19, 2019.
Kc got back from camp yesterday and was bragging about overcoming his fear. Scared at first, he jumped of a high ledge into the water. Once he had done it, he loved it and did it several more times.
We tell him he should learn how to dive.
Kc: "No. I don't want to learn diving. I will never dive. Never in my entire life!"
Opa: "You should. You would love it."
Kc: "No! I will never ever learn how to dive."
Me: "Opa is right. You really would love it."
Once again he passionately proclaims he does not want to learn how to dive and the subject is closed.
There is an end-of-the-year pool party for the cub scouts this afternoon. Since Kc is Den Chief, he is invited as well. He enjoys swimming and playing in the water with his friends.
I watch them for a bit and suddenly see him standing at the edge of the pool, taking instructions from his friend's younger sister and... diving into the water.
Me: "Ooohhhh!"
Aunt A.: "What's wrong?"
Me: "Nothing is wrong. Kc just dove into the water!"
I tell aunt A. what transpired yesterday and she is excited as well.
He tries over and over again. Sometimes he succeeds and sometimes he belly-flops, but he is learning how to dive and says he loves it.
We knew you would, you little hard-head.
Never say 'never' again! Grin.
