Magic

September 9, 2020.

It’s my birthday and Kc has been face timing me every chance he gets. As soon as school is out, he calls me again. This time he shows me a ‘Harry Potter’ wand which apparently belongs to Leo.

Kc waves the wand and says: “zwaazwaazwaa Da.” When he says the last word I press the end call button. I laugh and tell Opa what happened. He says I should ask Kc how he did that.

I think that is a great idea and I call Kc back. He answers and I ask.
Me: “How did you do that? The call ended after you waved that wand and said that spell.”
Kc: “I don’t know. It just happened.”
Me: “Well, do it again. Maybe it does it again.”
Kc: “Okay.
He waves the wand saying: “Zwaazwaazwaa Da.”
I end the call immediately.

This takes place several times and even Opa, who is in on it, end the calls on his iPad when Kc face times him and utters the spell, while waving the wand.

Kc is flabbergasted. He really believes the wand possesses magic. Bella and Lily are being called in to witness the impossible. After Kc shows them, both Bell and Lily try their hand at some magic. Low and behold, it works.

Kc calls back again
Kc:” Bella and Lily say you hang up after the spell.”
Me: “the girls are smarter then you.”

The words sink in and the look on Kc’s face is priceless. I laugh so hard, tears are rolling down my cheeks. He wants to see both my hands, says the spell and...nothing happens. Yeah, he finally grasps the concept.

I don’t. A 13 year old boy who beliefs in magic??

That’s magic by itself!
