The Whitewater Kayak Trip

August 11, 2018.
The camping trip the Boy Scouts are on this weekend will be centered around whitewater kayaking/canoeing.
It is Kc's initial encounter with some rapids, and the possibility of the swift moving water tipping over the kayak/canoe. We are thankful he can swim and brought a life vest with him.
Against all odds, Kc did great. It was his first time kayaking. After some instructions and tips, he maneuvered his kayak through all the rapids (even a category 3) and didn't tip over once.
Aunt A. on the other hand, didn't fare so well. She was in a canoe with another parent. They hit a rapid sideways and toppled over.
Aunt A. was shaky and nervous the rest of the trip. She stuck it out though, but decided this was not going to make her list of favorite activities.
Kc loved it and was not scared at all. He says he wants to do more kayaking and canoeing. Who would have thought?
It sure made Kc's list of favorites!
