In Limbo
Date of occurrence:
November 21, 2018.
Kc is in the hospital for an Endoscopy. He is a little nervous, but comforted by the presence of his Mom and myself.
We dress him in the hospital apparel and wait.
The anesthetist, nurses, and doctor, take their turn entering the room to explain what is going to happen.
Kc has the choice to get the IV in his hand before or after the anesthesia.
He doesn't like the idea of needles being stuck into him, so he wisely opts for being out cold.
He goes in for the procedure and his Mom and I retreat to the waiting room. About 30 minutes later, he is out. Armed with the phone ready to record his loopy talk and behavior, we go to see him.
The nurse tells us Kc woke up talking. He asked her if he has that 'IV thingy' in his arm. When we get there, he is sitting up in bed and claims he is not drowsy at all.
I am not so sure about that. He is very quiet and has a blank stare in his eyes. He is clearly still in the ozone and barely aware of what is going on around him.
It doesn't take long before we can get him dressed and take him home. We drop all the kids and their Mom off at their place, where they will spend Thanksgiving and the rest of the week.
As far as Kc's procedure goes, we have to wait now. The doctor took some biopsies and will let us know the results. So, momentarily we are in limbo.
Just like Kc! :-D
