Camp Out!

October 21, 2023.

Bella needs to learn how to set up a tent and pack her backpack. It would be a great help to her for when she goes camping with her scout troop. 

So, she came over yesterday afternoon and we are going to practice today. She did not come alone. Kc accompanied her to do some yard work for us and Lily tagged along as well, just because she could.

Bella and I did a trial run this morning. I was proud of her. She caught on pretty quick and got the tent set up, broken down, and backpack organized in no time.

She is ready for an overnighter with aunt A. That will take place in the woods behind our house tonight.

They set up shop in the afternoon, make a campfire, and indulge in a delicious backpacking meal. Then the darkness sets in and with that come the neighbor’s kittens. Six to be precise,

Even though they are ‘stinking’ cute ( aunt A.’s words), they are very obnoxious. They try climbing the tents and almost tear up the mosquito netting with their little claws. Spraying them with water doesn’t phase them.

Kc doesn’t hesitate and politely asks the neighbors if they can keep the kittens inside for the night. They are super-kind to do so. Problem solved and the peace is restored.

And what did Kc and Lily do during the day?

Lily was more than happy to have a room to herself and play on her phone, while Kc trimmed the bushes with his newly bought equipment. All in all, it was a good day for everyone.

Well, maybe not for the kittens. Lol.
