A Good Start

Date of occurrence:
May 27, 2009.
Kc is 2 years and almost 4 months old.

Since we are baby sitting our little critters almost every day, I thought it might be good to start our oldest grandson on potty training. His mom has got her hands full already with those two rascals and being sick all the time due to her pregnancy.

He already knows what 'the potty' is for, but I don't have any expectations; just to let him get used to it. Anything that will (literally) come out of it, is a plus.

Upon my question if he needed to use the potty I got a big "Yeahhh!" and he ran off to the bathroom, got out of his pants, undid his diaper and.... climbed right up on the toilet. No, he refused to use the kiddy one; he was a big boy and showed it as well by emptying his bladder.

Wow, that was a totally unexpected, but pleasant surprise and he got praised for it big time. The smile on his face was priceless and so was his hankering for more praise. He rushed to the bathroom several times, forced out the few drops which had accumulated since half a minute ago and was ecstatic.

This occurred several times during the day and even though he still needed his diaper, he sure was off to a good start!
