Oh Snap!
Date of occurrence:
March 10, 2011.
You never know where and what children pick up, but they can astonish you with vocabulary which you know they must have heard somewhere else. Take our four-year old grandson for instance:
His little car was giving him problems by refusing to move in the direction he intended to go. After uttering several times how he hated his truck, he fell silent for a minute. Then, out of the blue, a loud: "BS" (censored by author) filled the air.
He must have known it was not something we say, because he looked at me for a reaction and of course he got it.
Me: "Wow. We don't say that; it is not a very nice word and you shouldn't say it anymore. If you want to say something because you are angry, then it is perfectly allright to say 'oh snap'. Okay"
Kc: "Okay".
A few seconds later, a loud "Oh snap" comes out of his little mouth. He looks at me again and with a smile on his face he happily tells me:
"Oma, I said 'oh snap' and not BS"!
The little rascal! :-)
