Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle?
Date of occurrence:
August 24, 2017.
Wink, the box turtle that made our yard her home, came out from under the storage shed this morning.
Kc had just gotten dressed and goes out with me to feed her. She loves bread and knows her tummy will be filled when we come up to her.
She even meets us half way and stretches her neck looking for her food. The first piece I always hold out to her and she takes it from my hand.
This time, I let Kc give it to her. He holds it right in front of her mouth and I warn him to pull his hand back a little, because she has the tendency to suddenly snatch it from one's fingers.
He doesn't listen and Wink makes her move in one fell swoop. Kc pulls back his hand, holds it, looks at me in surprise and says: "She bit me!"
He shows me his finger and sure enough she broke the skin. It is barely noticeable, but enough for him to be more mindful next time.
Me, jokingly: "Uh oh, you got bit by a turtle. Now you have turtle power. You may turn into a teenage mutant ninja turtle."
Kc laughs and as soon as he gets inside tells Opa Wink bit him.
Opa: "Wow. She bit you, huh? That's one for the books."
Kc: "No, it isn't."
Opa: "Sure it is. Who can say they got bit by a turtle? I don't think there are many people who can claim they have."
There is no denying that fact and we make jokes about it until school starts. I do think it would be wise to keep an eye on our grandson. I will let you know as soon as he mutates.
He already loves pizza!
