Haircut

Date of occurrence:
June 7, 2009.
Leo is 2 years and 4 months old.

Leo's hair was constantly hanging in his eyes and it drove his aunt crazy. She had already asked Leo's dad if it was okay to cut his banks and he had given his consent. Our youngest daughter was constantly sick due to her pregnancy and couldn't get around to doing anything.

Well, auntie was determined and asked me if I wanted to help. I hesitated and she tried to convince me it was alright. I knew nothing was going to stop her from cutting her nephew's hair and since she had never done anything like that I thought I at least supervise.

A good thing I did; she wanted to cut it with the regular household scissors. Noooo, they don't lend themselves for that. After getting her a pair that would do fine, she had brushed lil' Leo's hair forward and was about to cut it.

"STOP!" I yelled just in time. Bad visions of cuts, scrapes and the possibility of him loosing an eye, flashed in front of my eyes. I better do it, sigh. I tried as best as I could to cut just a sliver off, but he would not sit still to save his life. I finally got his banks to satisfaction of his aunt.

Mom was not so happy and tried to do some more damage control. That did not work out too well either and she ended up having to take the trimmer to his little head. The result is quite obvious. He went from....

<--- from this, to this --->

It is no fun at all being put between a rock and a hard place. When it comes to having to choose between a bad haircut or a potentially injured grandson though, then the choice is not difficult at all.

His mom's feelings got hurt however, which is quite understandable. Sorry about that. At least the damage is not permanent; his hair will grow back in no time and I ain't touching it anymore!

Nah, that's not true; I will pet his head lots of times. :-)
