Found and Getting Lost
Date of occurrence:
September 11, 2011.
While Leo is watching TV, little Kc is playing outside. All of a sudden he comes running in and all excited he announces he found my turtle.
My turtle? We don't have a turtle, but the little guy is not one to make up stories, so we go outside with him and ask him to show us. He stays on the patio and keeps pointing towards the end of the yard, where he claims he saw it.
We don't see anything and are starting to question his discovery. We ask him again and encourage him to walk over to the spot where he saw it, after which he hesitantly does and sure enough, there is the turtle.
We all gather around and take a good look at it, making sure it is not a snapping turtle. No, it is a pretty descent size gopher and although both boys are rather fascinated by it, they keep their distance.
The turtle isn't very happy with all the attention and demonstrates that clearly by withdrawing in its shell. That doesn't take very long though and eventually it returns to its business; eating.
After having checked it out, we leave it alone and return inside. Yeah, all of us, because even though 'my' turtle has been found, it is a little scary and as far as the boys are concerned; it can get lost again and rather sooner then later!
