A Temporary Goodbye
Date of occurrence:
December 26, 2011.
It is a sad day; we are taking our grandchildren to their father this afternoon and they will leave for Kansas tomorrow. We won't see them for at least half a year and we are glad and grateful for the promises their daddy makes of letting us see them on the computer and being able to talk to them on the phone.
Still, having to let them go is hard and painful and I am holding back my tears as I hug each one of them. Little Kc, observant as he is, asks me why I am upset.
Me: "Because we will not see you for a long time, little man and we will miss you."
Kc: "I will call you!"
Me: "Yeah. You call us any time you want and remind daddy to keep your phone charged, okay?"
Kc: "Okay."
And with that said and done, we return home.
It may be a 'Goodbye', but at least it is not a permanent one and that, along with God's grace, make it all bearable!
