A Dream Come True
Date of occurrence:
December 25, 2011.
Even though we had unwrapped, unpacked, and provided the majority of the larger presents with batteries, there were was more then met the eye. A few smaller ones were wrapped and waiting patiently for their turn.
One present in particular was going to make Kc's day. It was his dream come true and we all were even more impatient to see the face of this little man then he was finding out what was hidden beneath the paper. He was tantalizingly careful and slow in taking off the wrapping paper.
And there is was: his own phone. When he found out it was a real, working phone and he could actually make calls, his eyes grew big and his little face reflected both disbelief and excitement.
Go ahead little guy, try it, and so he did. We had programmed the necessary phone numbers in it and he had to call everyone on his phone list and share the fact that Santa had brought him and he was calling from his own, real phone.
We impressed on him not to use up all his minutes, since it is a pay-as-you-go phone and he would have to wait until we had added more talk-time and he promised he wouldn't. He walked around as proud as a peacock, his phone either on his ear, in his hand, or in the case on his waist band. It never left his sight.
Ever since he could make noises, he wanted a phone and he finally got one. Don't stop dreaming, little man; you never know when a dream comes true!
