Cleaning Up

Date of occurrence:
June 17, 2009.
Lil' Kc is 2 years and 4 months old.

One of the things lil' Kc loves to do is helping out. Whenever we ask him if he wants to help do this, that or the other, his little face lights up and a big smile and an enthusiastic "Yeahhh!!" are the answer.

Sometimes, he takes matters in his own little hands and even though it may turn out to be a little over-zealous, his intentions are good.

Take the other day for example: our oldest daughter had lunch and left her plate, bowl and used napkin on the table intending to take it to the kitchen when she would get up. Little critter took it all and walked off to the kitchen with it. Upon his aunt's question if he was going to put it away for her, he replied positively.

We expected him to either set it on the counter or dump it in the kitchen sink, like he would do with his cup. We heard a kitchen cabinet open followed by a loud rattle, then the closing of the cabinet and the next thing we see is our little man coming out of the kitchen empty handed.

The puzzled look on our faces must have been priceless. What did he do with it? There was only one way to find out. I went to the kitchen and saw neither the plate nor the bowl. Then it dawned on me; I opened the cabinet where the trash can is and yup, he literally had disposed of it.

He may have thought he killed two birds with one stone: taking it to the kitchen and throwing it away would not only save us the trouble of having to get up, but rinsing and putting it in the dishwasher as well.

We got a good laugh out of it and acknowledged the fact that he sure did a good job of cleaning up!
