Claiming Toys

Date of occurrence:
June 30, 2011.
Emmaly is 1 year and almost 8 months old.

Little Miss doesn't like to wander off in the yard by herself. She usually accompanies her brothers, lets them push her around in the toy car or on the tricycle, but mainly enjoys sitting with the grown-ups on the patio.

This time, something caught her eye and since it piqued her interest, she got up and strolled off to do some investigating. Low and behold; she found our best friend's toy, picked it up and came back with it.

Our dog hardly ever plays with it, but when she noticed someone else took a liking to it, she gently tried taking it out of Emmaly's hand. However, the little critter wasn't going to let go of it that easily; toys are there to play with, no matter who they belong to.

We finally convinced little miss to return it to its rightful owner and get one of her own toys. We better make sure to take it back in, otherwise the dog will claim it and there is no reasoning with her; before you know it, she chewed it up.

I am glad Emmaly is passed the stage of putting everything in her mouth. Yeah, she will claim a toy, but at least she is susceptible to reason and she certainly won't chew it up! Grin.
