The Early Bird

Date of occurrence:
June 29, 2011.

Due to the heat, we try to go outside in the early mornings so that our little guy can still play some before it gets way too hot and he has to stay inside.

Even though the afternoon thunderstorms bring some relief, it doesn't take long before the high temperatures take over and it gets miserably hot again.

During one of those thunderstorms the lid of the sandbox was blown off and little Kc had pulled it back up and placed it upside down over on the bottom.

A puddle of water had gathered in the lid and presented a real challenge to the little guy and I had a hard time keeping him out of the dirty water.

All for a reason I suppose, because a few minutes later a dove landed on the sandbox, taking some refreshing sips from the quickly evaporating water.

We both tried to be quiet allowing the bird to have its fill, but when Kc wanted to take a closer look at it, it took off.

One thing is for sure: little Kc is certainly not the only early bird! :-)
