Independence Day Fun

Date of occurrence:
July 4, 2011.

We thought it would be fun for the children to have some fireworks for the 4th of July, but it had to be safe and we found the little pull bottles and small 'pop its' which suited the purpose.

We ensured there was plenty to go around and bought a large bag filled to the brim. That should do it, or so we thought. It sure did, but it didn't last as long as we had anticipated.

We went over for dinner and as soon as we stepped in, the boys noticed the bag. It took a little convincing on everyone's part trying to tell them to wait with taking care of the fireworks until after the meal which they did.

Finally, after what seemed an eternity to them, it was time to 'shoot'. The Pop Its were thrown and stepped on when they refused to do their job the first time.

The pull bottles were a great success, although some of them were not so willing to release their contents. The boys also had the tendency pointing them towards their faces and a little help and supervision was in order.

They saved some for when it would be dark and little Kc insisted on keeping several of the little empty bottles. Yeah, it was fun, but I don't know who enjoyed it more: the children shooting fireworks or Opa and Oma watching those excited little faces!
