Making Mini Pizzas
Date of occurrence:
July 28, 2012.
What child doesn't love pizza? Our grandchildren are no exception to the rule and pizza is high on their list of favorite foods. They sure know how to stow it away though and with so many mouths to fill, ordering those delicious pies would turn out to be rather costly.
It is said that necessity is the mother of invention, but I would rather say creativity is and since we didn't want to withhold them from devouring this delicacy, I came up with a plan that would suit all of us to a tee; let them make their own mini pizzas.
Armed with a can of biscuit dough, bowls with tomato paste, pepperoni, shredded cheese, and some garlic powder and dried oregano, I set the kids at the table. After they each got a plate I told them to have at it and create their own pizza.
They truly enjoyed flattening the dough, splattering on the paste and strategically placing the pepperoni on it. I took care of sprinkling on the herbs and they loaded their pizza with cheese.
Off in the oven their supper went and about 10 to 15 minutes later they sank their teeth in their favorite food. They had a great time, but the best part was that they were instantly rewarded with the very tasty fruits of their labor!
