Back-Packing

Date of occurrence:
June 24, 2016.

Since Kc has advanced to Webelos, he will have to camp out by himself. That means he will need to bring his tent and haul it too. And that calls for a larger backpack to store his gear, apparel, and other necessary items.

Opa found one that fit the bill and shows our little man how best to load and unload his new backpack. He practices a few times, under Opa's supervision, and learns what all the compartments are or can be used for.

He has it down pat real quick and, when fully loaded, it is adjusted to his height. He walks up and down the hall several times getting used to the new load on his back.

Watching him parade up and down leaves me with mixed feelings. On the one hand I feel sorry for him with this new weight on his shoulders and on the other hand I am proud of the way he handles it.

Growing up comes with new responsibilities and it is back-packing for sure!
