A Good Cause
This post brought to you by Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.
I was rather shocked reading how the partnership between Walgreens and Express Script had come to an end as of January1, 2012.
In spite of several proposals from Walgreens, Express Script, Inc. decided to cut out Walgreens pharmacies from their in-network, leaving military service men and women, families, retirees and many others no option but to find another pharmacy in order to receive discounts on their prescription drugs.
Express Scripts, Inc. is a middleman between pharmacies providing health care services, employers, and health plans who pay for the medication, but they are also the pharmacy benefit manager for Tricare; this in-network insurance coverage for prescriptions also covers U.S. military service personnel.
You can imagine what an inconvenience having to find another pharmacy is. It means having to abandon your trusted pharmacy and driving further for the same discounts. It is not surprising why all those affected are so upset about this, including me, because our grand-children's dad is in the military.
I was pleased to read though that it didn't prevent Walgreens from still helping, supporting, and serving our troops. A special discount is offered for an annual membership to the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club.
Just $10 a year for a family membership covers everyone in your immediate family; spouse, dependents 22 and younger, and pets included. An individual can join and receive discount prices on prescriptions for only $5.
More benefits include discounts on more than 8,000 brand-name, all generic medications, flu shots, pet prescriptions, nebulizers and diabetic supplies and bonuses are obtained by buying Walgreens brand products and photofinishing services.
