The Highlight Of The Day

April 10, 2014.

Kc is normally not very eager to get up in the morning and to get ready for school. He would rather forego it if he could, but today is different.

Before we know it, he is dressed and can hardly wait to go. No wonder; it is a day filled with fun and games.

It starts around 11 am with games and activities both in and outdoors. Mini golf, ring toss, face painting, and lots of stands with appetizing snacks are the first order of the day.

After having his fill, he decides it is time to go outside and get rid of some energy by jumping in and on the several inflatable outdoor toys.

All that is just half the fun. Around 12:30 everyone gathers outside on the field and the waiting begins.

Finally, a vague sound fills the air and grows louder and louder. The excitement builds and there it is; the Coast Guard helicopter.

The students gather around it and impatiently listen to the short introduction and explanation about the Coast Guard's work.

They think it is cool, but the helicopter has their undivided attention, because.... they get to sit in it!!!

Our little man doesn't waste his time when it is his turn. He checks out the interior intensely and has hardly a second to spare for a picture. It sure is the highlight of his day.

Who said school couldn't be fun?!
