Squeaking By

Date of occurrence:
March 14, 2014.

Our little man has to register at school and while mom is taking him with her to do so, we are blessed with the pleasure of watching our youngest granddaughter Bell, who is up and walking by now.

She looks so cute in her yellow dress and her new white shoes. The shoes have a feature; they squeak like a duck with every step she takes. It is funny, although I can imagine after hearing that for several hours one might get weary of it.

The squeaky sound comes with an added benefit; we can pinpoint exactly where our little critter is located and where she is heading.

Bell and I are playing in the living room when I ask her where Opa is. She knows full well where he is and looks in the direction of the office.

I encourage her to go and see him. She thinks about it for a split second and then decides that is a good idea.

Opa doesn't have to wonder what or who is coming his way. The sounds are heard way before Bell reaches her destination.

It starts out with one simple sound.... followed by a silence. Another one... more silence and then she takes off; squeak..., squeak...., squeak, squeak, squeak. A fast rhythm of sounds fills the air until she stops in front of Opa who is already waiting for her.

Nope, there is no way she can squeak by without giving him a hug!
