Warming Up

January 2, 2016.

It is a beautiful day. The weather is nice and cold and we agree it would be a perfect day to spend outside.

The plan is to have the kids gather up some firewood, make a fire in our chiminea to take the edge of the cold, let them help burn the wood, and play in the yard.

That suits me fine. I had intended to grill some burgers and pork chops and I welcome the company. Opa and aunt A. encourage the kids to round up all the fallen tree limbs and branches they can find and in not time we have a huge pile of firewood.

The kids love making and feeding the fire, but eventually resort to playing. They are having a good time and before we know it, it is already past lunch time. Well, how about a picnic?

Everyone is up for that and the freshly grilled burgers have no problem finding their way to our stomachs.

We stay out for a few more hours, but the temperature is dropping fast and the cold is slowly taking over the heat radiating from the fire.

It is time to go in and for those little critters to soak in the tub.

Not just to get warm, but to get clean as well!
