A Little Whirlwind
Date of occurrence:
November 23, 2011.
It doesn't happen very often that we have our little granddaughter over without her brothers, but today we got her all to ourselves since the boys are in school and mom had to go places.
Emmaly is like a little whirlwind; moving quick and all over the place. She is a real character though with a lot of personality, a mind and will of her own, determination, and also a very short attention span.
The last means that I have to switch gears almost every two minutes, because one moment we are playing with her 'baby' and the next she shifted her attention to her purse, a book, or anything else that seems interesting and catches her eye.
Every now and then she likes to retreat and she was real pleased with the TV in the front bedroom.
She didn't know how heartwarming and cute she looked, sitting on the bed like a little princess, all preoccupied and involved in watching a cartoon.
Of course, that too didn't last very long and she came back in the living room pretty quick, inquiring where her favorite grandparent went.
I don't know how often she asked that day: 'Where Opa'?, but it was a bunch and we would go into the office and pay him a little visit, but just the knowledge that he was close by was already enough.
She sure didn't have a problem making herself at home, as you can see, and we were thankful for that.
What she did have a problem with was taking a nap and flat-out refused. We didn't press the matter and knew Mr. Sandman eventually would take care of that, which he did.
Yeah, even little whirlwinds have to settle down some time! :-)
