The Act Of Disappearance
Date of occurrence:
July 26, 2013.
It is not always easy keeping the grandkids busy and it is a good thing that Opa has some tricks up his sleeve. That is meant in the literal sense of the expression, because he can do some great magic with a coin.
That sure captured their attention and they were flabbergasted and fascinated when the coin disappeared from Opa's hand and suddenly dropped out of his nose or showed up behind one of their ears. They couldn't get enough of it and wanted to see it over and over again.
To make it even more interesting, Opa tells Leo he can make him disappear as well. Leo's eyes grow big at first and then he shakes his head in disbelief.
Leo: "You can't make me disappear, Opa"!
Opa: "Sure I can. Just watch me".
Out of the blue, Opa starts reciting 'The Raven' from Edgar Allan Poe. They all are listening intensely at first, but after a few sentences Leo covers his ears. He proclaims he doesn't want to hear it anymore, because he thinks it is too scary.
That doesn't stop his grandpa by any means and the recital continues. Leo decides he had enough, quickly vacates the premises and finds refuge in the living room. Opa grins and calls out to him.
"Leo? Did I just make you disappear"? Grin.
